Can’t fix the economy if you don’t fix morality!

On or around April 15th, tax day, tens of thousands of Americans gathered in cities all across the United States. They have great concern as to the direction that our nation is heading.  They are concerned about economic issues, about socialism, etc.

There certainly is legitimate reason for being concerned, but even more serious than the economic issues are the moral issues.

It seems like the cart is before the horse.  If we seek first the kingdom of God, and His justice, then all else will be granted to us, to paraphrase St. Matthew.

Yes the economic issues are serious, but how do they compare with public sacrilege and blasphemy, with abortion, contraception, homosexuality, adultery, euthanasia etc.?  If you are murdered before you are born, how does economic policy help you?

No matter how perfect our economic system could be, if it is not backed up by a strong religious and moral character it is doomed to failure.

God blesses those who love Him and who obeys all of His commandments, not just some of them.

How much would be accomplished if these tens of thousands gathered for a public square rosary?  I believe far more. Again it is not bad to stand up to the socialistic trends in our society, but let us also stand up to the immoral trends in our society.

If enough of us do so, I am convinced that Our Lord and Our Lady will bless our nation in ways unimaginable.
